It has been almost a year since the game received an update with the latest game mechanics and things are looking good for the game mode more than ever.

Save The World campaign has been around in Fortnite ever since its initial days. Some OG players would say that the game mode itself was the actual Fortnite and still is due to its originality in the storyline and the classic graphics it boasts.

During Chapter 2 of the Battle Royale game mode, players slowly parted ways with Save The World, once it came out of Early Access and was accessible to anyone who bought a special cosmetic pack from the Item Shop. As a result, Epic also stopped updating the game mode with the latest mechanics and features and instead shifted its focus to Battle Royale.

But ever since the launch of Chapter 3, when Epic decided to add animals to the PvE campaign, players were hoping to finally get some latest Sprint, Mantle, and Crouch mechanics to the game mode soon enough. Looks like the day has finally arrived and Epic has indeed added some major updates to the game mode.

Epic adds new Movement Mechanics to Save The World in the latest update

Save The World game mode has just received a major update in the form of the latest movement mechanics as Sprinting, Sliding, Mantling, Crouching, and Shoulder Bashing Doors gets added to it. Now players can use the latest movement mechanics they have been using in Battle Royale game mode in Save The World and fight the Husk Monsters in their own unique way.

Fortnite also posted some clips on their official blog alongside the Homebase Status report v21.20 of how players can use the Ninja hero in their loadout and climb greater heights by combining the mantle feature with a double jump.

In addition to these features, Epic also added Fennix as the next hero to enter the PvE campaign and has given a dedicated questline called Flight of the Fennix to the character. Players can now jump in the game and complete quests linked to Fennix to acquire the hero in their loadout and use its ferocious powers to Save The World.

As Epic continues to improve the stability of its Battle Royale and Creative game modes, it is surely pleasing to see that finally Save The World is receiving a similar treatment with major changes being made to improve its gameplay experience. Nevertheless, the player base speculates in the coming days the PvE will also receive the popular Overshield feature as they experience in Zero Build as well as some new weapons added to their loadout.

Fortnite working on a first-person mode according to leak https://www.fortniteintel.com/fortnite-working-on-a-first-person-mode-according-to-leak/40785/ Wed, 08 Jun 2022 10:54:11 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=40785 Fortnite has introduced a ton of new features such as Tactical Overshield and rideable animals lately, and it looks like the next addition will be a first-person mode.

A majority of Battle Royale games out there (Call of Duty, Apex Legends, PUBG) offer a first-person mode to players, or are entirely first-person. In contrast, Fortnite Battle Royale has been a third-person only game for five years.

While the first-person perspective is useful for aim and shooting, the third-person perspective is better for open-world exploration, tracking opponents, building structures, and donning cosmetics.

Leakers have now claimed that Epic Games is working on a first-person mode for Fortnite. Here’s everything we know so far.

Fortnite planning to release a first-person mode in Chapter 3

Credible leaker and data miner HYPEX recently informed his followers on Twitter about Epic Games’ latest endeavor – a first-person mode. Apparently, the mode is still in early development and the team began working on it with the latest Chapter 3 Season 3 update.

It is worth noting that a first-person mode is not an alien concept for Fortnite. The PvE version of the game, Save the World, already has a first-person mode, but it has its own shortcomings: it only offers a camera view and players cannot see their guns or hands in it.

This explains why Epic Games might be working on a first-person mode for Battle Royale from scratch. At the moment, there is no release date, but we can expect more information as new updates for Chapter 3 Season 3 arrive.

Fortnite community reacts to the upcoming first-person mode

It comes as no surprise that the aforementioned leak regarding an FPS mode has terrified some loopers. After relishing the game in a third-person perspective for almost five years, some veteran players might not want such a massive change in the meta.

Moreover, a first-person mode would render most skins and cosmetics items in Fortnite pointless. Last but not least, building and editing in a first-person perspective might be chaotic if not implemented properly. In the existing TPP mode, players can easily make structures and edit them according to the opponent’s location, and this might not be as efficient in an FPP mode.

Having said that, players should not worry about Epic Games forcing the first-person mode on them. At best, it’ll be similar to a Zero Build mode that simply allows you to play according to your gameplay preferences.

A lot of players believe Fortnite is gradually turning into Apex Legends and the introduction of an FPS mode will further solidify such claims. In the past, we’ve seen players calling out Epic Games for adding the Respawn Van (based on Apex Legends’ Respawn Beacons), Loot Vaults, and sliding.

However, we can’t really blame the developers for adding new features and satisfying the demands of such a diversified player base.

#SaveSavetheWorld trends as Epic announce its full release https://www.fortniteintel.com/savesavetheworld-trends-as-epic-announce-its-full-release/33036/ Tue, 30 Jun 2020 19:35:08 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=33036 Most of our readers prefer the Battle Royale side of Fortnite, but that doesn’t mean that we completely ignore the original Fortnite game mode, “Save the World.” This mode was what Fortnite was supposed to be before Epic took a shot with a free-to-play Battle Royale.

Fortnite: Save the World already had a built-in players base when Battle Royale released. After the latter mode exploded in popularity, Save the World players saw most of Epic attention move over to Battle Royale while they got minimal and slow-rolling content updates.

On June 30, Epic announced that they were finally taking Save the World out of Early Access. They announced a number of new features, but the overall sentiment was clear: they were finished with the game and would be slowing down their update schedule going forward.

What’s more, Epic have decided to keep the game as a “premium experience” rather than free-to-play, as previously promised. They also noted that Founders Pack owners would be upgraded to the next level and that Ultimate Editions owners will receive 8,000 V-Bucks and the Metal Team Leader Pack.

The full release will include the newly-announced Ventures along with annual schedules that will rotate some of the fan-favorite game modes. Save the World players, however, were unhappy with this news. Many of them took to Twitter to voice their displeasure, using the hashtag #SaveSavetheWorld.

Save the World creator DemonJoeFrance made a thread and recorded a video, explaining why the #SaveSavetheWorld hashtag exists and why the most recent blog post is such a problem. The STW community views this as Epic giving up on the original Fortnite in favor of Battle Royale.

One of the primary areas of complaint – although there are many – is that STW will not go free-to-play. As DemonJoe acknowledges in his thread, this will likely stunt the growth of Save the World. Fewer Battle Royale players will try it out, meaning the player base won’t continue to grow the way that Battle Royale has.

We’ll have to see if Epic take note of this trending hashtag or if they choose to reverse course at any point. On the Battle Royale side of things, they have always been attentive to similar community outcry. Will Save the World get the same treatment? Or, as CleanPrinceGaming predicted back in 2018, will Fortnite kill Fortnite?

Fortnite Theory: ‘Save the World’ and ‘Battle Royale’ stories merge for Fortnite Chapter 2 https://www.fortniteintel.com/fortnite-theory-save-the-world-and-battle-royale-stories-merge-for-fortnite-chapter-2/26358/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/fortnite-theory-save-the-world-and-battle-royale-stories-merge-for-fortnite-chapter-2/26358/#comments Fri, 11 Oct 2019 17:40:00 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=26358 With Fortnite Chapter 2 ushering in a new map and new plotline to Fortnite, many theories are popping up as to what will come next. This theory merges ‘Save the World’ and ‘Battle Royale’ into a single story.

Fortnite fans are eagerly awaiting the Season 10 event that will bring us to Fortnite Chapter 2. Today, we heard some news that confirmed the existence of a new map for us to explore and a completely new storyline outside of anything we’ve seen.

We can only guess as to what the new map and new story will bring us. We may have heard a clue or two in the Visitor Recordings, however. Here are their locations if you’re still trying to complete your Overtime challenges.

Once you find all of the tapes and locate the Visitor’s terminal in Dusty Depot, you’ll be able to listen to the entire message as the Visitor intended.

This theory revolves around the line, “When I hear this, again, will it help me remember? Or once Looped will I be just as muted as the others?” If you think about it, we’ve never heard anyone speak in the Battle Royale universe outside of this recording. Characters in Save the World have voices, so why doesn’t anyone talk in Battle Royale?

Popular YouTuber Ali-A has a theory that gives the “muted” nature of Battle Royale significance, as well as the “loop” of the BR format.

This theory could bring the two Fortnite worlds together, and finally, give our Battle Royale characters a voice.

Epic has been talking about making Save the World a free-to-play game since it first came out. The game has been in Beta for years, and Fortnite Chapter 2 could finally be the time we see StW as a full product.

Fortnite: Save the World

Save the World is relatively fun, but it’s a completely different experience from Battle Royale. Tim Sweeney, Epic Games founder, described the game as, “Minecraft meets Left For Dead”

Not everyone will enjoy the original Fortnite game, but it’s a great way to earn some free V-Bucks. I’ve been able to get thousands of V-Bucks from Save the World by simply logging on every day.

What’s your theory about Fortnite Chapter 2? Let us know in the comments!

Ex-Epic Games production director tried to can Fortnite https://www.fortniteintel.com/ex-epic-games-production-director-tried-can-fortnite/19587/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/ex-epic-games-production-director-tried-can-fortnite/19587/#comments Sun, 16 Jun 2019 14:38:55 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=19587 Former director of productions at Epic Games, Rod Fergusson, told Game Informer that he tried to have Fortnite canceled before he left the company.

Fortnite launched back in 2017 as Fortnite: Save the World, with the popular Battle Royale mode launching a few months later.

Fortnite’s BR mode soon captured the same audience that was previously distracted by H1Z1 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, quickly claiming one of the top spots for the most popular video game.

One of Epic’s previous employees, Rod Fergusson, initially didn’t believe in the BR and actually tried to cancel the game.

Ex-Director of productions at Epic Games, Rod Fergusson.

During an interview with Game Informer, the ex-director of production explained that “If I stayed at Epic, I would have canceled Fortnite. Before I left, I tried to cancel Fortnite. When it was just Save The World, that was a project that had some challenges.”

Fergusson continued his opinion with, “As the director of production at the time, that game would not have passed my bar for something we should have continued to keep going.”

Even though Fergusson is now with the Gears of War 5 team, he is happy for the team at Epic Games for their success with Fortnite.

“That game you love [Fortnite], the worldwide sensation, it would not exist had I stayed at Epic.”

It seems like Epic Games made the right decision to push on with Fortnite, especially since the game earned the company billions of dollars in 2018.

Even though Fergusson is no longer with Epic, it is certainly interesting to hear his perspective on the world-wide phenomenon video game.

New Fortnite leak reveals mysterious ‘Zebulon Drone’ item https://www.fortniteintel.com/new-zebulon-drone-item-leaked-for-fortnite/15735/ Fri, 12 Apr 2019 18:10:24 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=15735 Another day, another leak. A new item or weapon coming to Fortnite may have been leaked ahead of schedule. We’re not quite sure what it is though.

Leaks about Fortnite items come on a frequent basis due to the way Epic Games leaves files laying around. Some might call it negligence, but the practice of leaving these files for data-miners is actually expert marketing.

A new leak has revealed something mysterious and unknown in the v8.30 Fortnite files. Let’s take a look.

Zebulon Drone Leaked

We don’t quite know what to call this new ‘Zebulon Drone.’ It might be an item or a weapon, but there’s no way to know for sure.

The leaks came from the well-known data miner @lucas7yoshi_. The miner managed to find a few lines of code that reference this so-called ‘Zebulon Drone.’

The code seems to be a block that would send a text block message saying “End Zebulon Drone” with a specific font type.

LucasYoshi also found another line of code that references the possible new Fortnite item.

Save The World or Battle Royale?

The Zebulon Drone could be a Save the World upgrade – via Epic Games

Since the information of the Zebulon Drone is so limited, we cannot definitively say that the item will be coming to Battle Royale.

Due to its naming structure, there’s a strong possibility that the Drone will be some type of new defense structure used in the Save The World mode. This is still a big deal, but not quite as massive as a Battle Royale addition.

The reason we believe it might be Battle Royale item is due to LucasYoshi’s history of looking specifically at Battle Royale files. Though it is possible that these files were not marked by Epic Games to specific game modes.

As for gameplay function, we can only make one assumption. The word “Drone” suggest automation, which could indicate something like an auto-turret or perhaps a drone that heals/gives shields to the player over-time.

For details, we’ll just have to wait and see what Epic has in store.

Hottest picks from Epic’s Fortnite Creative Mode Reddit AMA https://www.fortniteintel.com/hottest-picks-from-epics-fortnite-creative-mode-reddit-ama/15038/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/hottest-picks-from-epics-fortnite-creative-mode-reddit-ama/15038/#comments Fri, 29 Mar 2019 20:15:10 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=15038

Epic Games held an AMA for Fortnite’s Creative mode on March 29th and we’ve got some of best questions and answers from the event lined up for you.

The AMA event for Fortnite’s Creative mode and its capabilities lasted about an hour on Friday, March 29th. Epic picked some of best questions from community creators and answered them to the best of their ability.

We’ve got a compilation of the most salient answers that reveal a bit more about Epic’s ideas and thoughts on the wildly successful game mode. The AMA was held on the Fortnite Creative subreddit.

Here’s a quick list of the topics below for your convenience:

  • Gravity Traps/Items
  • Save the World Props/Assets
  • Additional Islands and memory availability
  • Server Browser for Creative Mode
  • v8.20 Lighting Revert for Creative Mode
  • Vending Machines and Ziplines for Creative Mode
  • Switching Skins in middle of Creative Mode matches
  • Durr Burger and other prefab sets
  • Material/Object Recoloring and Material Switching
  • Publicly Released Creative Roadmap
  • Copy & Paste for Player Built Structures
  • Competitive Creative Mode Events

There was quite a lot of future information revealed, so let’s into what was said:

Gravity Traps/Items

u/FalconStrikeFilms – ‘Is there any chance we’ll eventually see a “gravity trap/item?” That way we can control the gravity of only specific areas in the map?’ – u/FalconStrikeFilms

Epic: ‘Yes.’

Save the World Props/Assets

Save the World mode in Fortnite

u/iScenario -‘Do you plan on bringing any Save the World props/assets to Creative? I could really use the Save the World gnomes for my Gnome Village block idea.’

Epic: ‘Gnomes would be awesome…. yeah we’ll get those in for a future patch.’

Additional Islands and memory availability

u/Joloxsa_Xenax‘Any thoughts on more available islands, and more available memory? Like 50k more?’

Epic:DarkVeil – We’ll be continually adding new islands in Fortnite updates. We’re also working on improving how you manage your islands, allowing you to rename them, save copies, and have many more saved islands than you do now. We’ll have more to share later!

As for memory, currently there are some important constraints. We’d like your creations to run well on all of the platforms Fortnite is played on, so the memory budget helps prevent crashes. But the more interesting limitation is actually on the Fortnite server. Battle Royale has many thousands of buildings, props and vehicles — but on a Creative server we may hundreds of thousands more objects loaded and simulating on the server. And these islands are totally dynamic, so no “offline optimizations” are possible.

This is actually a new problem for Fortnite (and for Unreal Engine, to a lesser extent!) We’ve been working on optimizing the servers, and you’ve probably noticed that Creative islands load much more quickly than they used to. This optimization work will continue, and we’ll reevaluate the memory limits as we go.’

Server Browser for Creative Mode

u/ricky_vespucci – ‘Will there ever be an easier way to find other players for creative sessions? Can public sessions be possible on the server browser?’

Epic: ‘DarkVeil – This is a hugely important thing for us. With the Season 8 update we expanded Playgrounds to 16 players and enabled Fill matchmaking into a hub with featured Creative content. This was only one of our first big steps to make it easier to play with others. You’ll probably see us go through a number of iterations with content sharing and discovery. We’re still figuring this out, and your feedback is very helpful!’

v8.20 Lighting Revert for Creative Mode

v8.20 brought some lighting changes with its release

u/BasketCaseBoi‘I have a question regarding a recent change with patch 8.20, is it possible to revert the recent changes made to lighting in creative?’

Epic: ‘DarkVeil – Yes, we’ve seen various reports of lighting inconsistencies, and these changes were unexpected. We’re looking into it. Very sorry about that!’

Vending Machines and Ziplines for Creative Mode

u/f4rg0‘Will custom vending machines and zip lines be added?’

Epic: ‘ZooKeeperZak – Vending Yes! Zip lines not likely they have a lot of specific gameplay and setup requirements that would be difficult to move over. We’re focusing more on things like custom vending machine and other devices that can be used in multiple ways to make games.’

Switching Skins in middle of Creative Mode matches

u/snakesonifunny‘Will there ever be the ability to change your locker during a Creative match?’

Epic: ‘DarkVeil – We really want this feature! The reason it’s a bit tricky is because the Locker interface needs some work before we’ll be able to summon it in the middle of a Creative session. This is mainly for performance and memory reasons, but also because of how the game’s menu system was originally designed. We’re pondering about how we can do it. How would you guys feel about a different sort of interface, like an Outfit “quick select” pop-up, initially?’

Durr Burger and other prefab sets

Everyone’s Favorite Fortnite Restaurant

u/LXCKDXWNX‘Will you add more Durr Burger presets?’

Epic: ‘Durr Burger and a few other Fortnite points of interest are in our backlog.’

Material/Object Recoloring and Material Switching

u/thatgodlynoob – ‘Do you think you’ll add the ability to recolour objects?’

Epic: ‘Yes this is planned. We want you to be able to change various materials and colors on props and walls. This include player-built walls. However we’re still figuring out technically how this could work so it won’t be available soon. However, some new props will have color choices available right on the object, and we’ll try to provide color variants in prefab galleries when it seems really valuable to do so.’

Publicly Released Creative Roadmap

u/goodnamelol‘So we keep hearing about this priority list, but there’s probably no chance we can see it, Right?’

Epic:We have been discussing sharing some of our roadmap with the community. We’ll see what ends up working best to create the right mix of what we know we will do vs having plans change based. At the moment we’ve defaulted to letting you guys know if it’s on the list when asked directly :)’

Copy & Paste for Player Built Structures

A Copy & Paste feature would speed up Creative building

u/Stefanbats‘Is there going to be a tool that allows us to copy and paste whole structures that have been build?’

Epic: ‘Yes! The first version of this feature is actually coming quite soon. You’ll be able to select multiple objects and copy them around. This includes props and building tiles, or combinations of both. We actually just had a discussion in the office about which button to assign the new selection feature to. Any ideas? :)’

Competitive Creative Mode Events

u/ShalevB‘Is there gonna be any kind of competitive creative? Do you have any more information about the creative in the world cup?’

Epic: ‘Maybe… (included a link to the Fortnite World Cup Trailer)’

Wooh, that’s a lot of info on Creative. There’s even more information about all types of questions relating to Creative mode on the Reddit page for the AMA. The above is the hottest picks from the bunch in our opinions.

Be sure to check out the Reddit page for all the info that Epic expunged today about Creative mode.

Epic Games is offering a major discount on Fortnite Save the World https://www.fortniteintel.com/epic-games-is-offering-a-major-discount-on-fortnite-save-the-world/11674/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/epic-games-is-offering-a-major-discount-on-fortnite-save-the-world/11674/#comments Wed, 06 Feb 2019 19:48:08 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=11674 Save the World is heavily discounted right now if you’re looking to jump in.

While Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode gets most of the attention, there’s a pretty solid PVE game at its base.

Save the World was supposed to go free-to-play in 2018 but those plans never came to fruition.

If you are interested in trying out the mode then your only option will be to purchase it, which you can do for a lot cheaper right now.

Save the World is currently 50 percent off which means you can pick up the standard edition for $19.99.

There are many different editions you can pick up:

  • Standard Edition: $19.99
  • Deluxe Edition: $29.99
  • Super Deluxe Edition: $44.99
  • Limited Edition $74.99

All four of the editions are discounted by 50 percent, with each respective version offering a little more content for what you pay for.

It’s worth mentioning that even though Fortnite is available on the Switch and mobile, Save the World is not offered on those platforms.

Save the World recently made headlines by abandoning the random loot boxes in favor of letting players see the contents before the purchase is made.

LEAK: Fortnite Founders to receive new cosmetics https://www.fortniteintel.com/leak-fortnite-founders-to-receive-new-cosmetics/11081/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/leak-fortnite-founders-to-receive-new-cosmetics/11081/#comments Tue, 29 Jan 2019 19:47:20 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=11081 Fortnite’s Save the World is supposed to go entirely free in 2019, however, fans can still support the development by purchasing a Founder’s Pack.

It has been discovered within the Fortnite v7.30 patch that Save the World players will be receiving exclusive cosmetics to use in Battle Royale.

Epic Game’s originally launched Fortnite: Save the World back in July 2017, where players fight zombie-like creature named “Husks”, and are given several tasks in order to save the world from the Husks and whatever supernatural powers come with them.

Fortnite data miner HYPEX was able to find pictures of the items that Founders would receive which include a Pickaxe, Backbling, and Glider in both male and female variations.

Purchasers of a Founder’s Pack have received exclusive skins in the past, so this won’t be the first time.

Images of the new cosmetics for Founders can be seen below:

As of publishing, there has not been any information available on the names or descriptions of the items as they are simply titled “TBD.”

Founders have already received Exclusive items to use in Battle Royale, so this won’t be a new addition.

We will keep you updated with any new information on leaked cosmetics headed to Fortnite!

Fortnite Save the World abandons random Loot Boxes with major Llama changes https://www.fortniteintel.com/fortnite-save-the-world-abandons-random-loot-boxes-with-major-llama-changes/10847/ https://www.fortniteintel.com/fortnite-save-the-world-abandons-random-loot-boxes-with-major-llama-changes/10847/#comments Fri, 25 Jan 2019 18:29:43 +0000 http://www.fortniteintel.com/?p=10847 Llamas aren’t the same as you’re used to anymore on Fortnite Save the World.

Loot boxes have long been a controversial topic in video games ever since the rise of free-to-play titles.

Some countries now require developers and publishers to put the actual odds on the boxes now, essentially taking away a lot of the mystery.

Epic Games has decided to change up the way llamas work in their Save the World version of Fortnite by allowing players to see the contents before they purchase.

These llamas will be called X-Ray llamas going forward and will now show you everything that’s inside before you make the purchase.

If you don’t like the offering all you’ll have to do is wait until the store refreshes for more items.

The price of llamas will remain the same with the only change being you see what you’ll be getting.

As an added bonus, all existing Save the World players will receive 5 free Llama Upgrade Tokens to try out the new system.

The llama changes will go live in Save the World update v7.30.
